She is both a cold-blooded organizational manner and assassin. Despite this, she seems to crave approval, stopping to demand that those assassins working under her laugh at her jokes if they do not do so.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Following the rampage of a Noble Dragon in the city of Ankh-Morpork, Doctor Cruces is called before Lord Vetinari along with the Archchancellor of Unseen University and Urdo van Pew, the head of the Thieves Guild. When she mocks Pew, he suggested that they should "contact our esteemed head of the Assassins Guild to inhume the creature." She replies that she can kill it if she can find it. To this, Lord Vetinari replies that her dedication is admirable, but she thinks it likely that the dragon is a magical phenomenon, and starts grilling the Archchancellor about his magical experiments.
